Minna Frederick

Registered Psychotherapist – Qualifying

Available for virtual appointments only.

Welcome. Minna is a registered social worker with wide-ranging experience in community mental health settings, much of it focused on 2SLGBTQ+ youth and disordered eating. Her particular areas of expertise include panic and anxiety disorders, depression, trauma and vicarious trauma, eating disorders, and concerns related to gender and sexuality — including questioning gender and/or sexuality and navigating homophobia and transphobia. In her work with eating disorders, she takes a Health at Every Size approach. In her psychotherapy practice, Minna draws on narrative therapy and relational/psychodynamic therapy, and is informed by DBT and somatic therapies. Her approach is collaborative, experiential, and focused on helping you build greater stability and deeper self-understanding. Rather than centring specific skills — though we can absolutely work on those — therapy focuses on the relationship we develop and reflect on together. You may already have the skills and struggle to use them. You may have felt rushed in previous therapy. We'll begin where you are, at the pace you need.

Minna is neurodivergent-affirming, grounded in anti-racism and anti-oppression, and informed by disability justice. You'll have space to explore how your context — identity, community, and the social systems around you — shapes your health and well-being. She especially enjoys supporting youth and is comfortable with neurodivergent communication styles. Outside of private practice, Minna is the Program Manager at Sheena's Place, where she facilitates free support groups focused on eating disorders.
