Our Approach to Psychotherapy

At Mahaya Health, we offer trauma-informed psychotherapy in the heart of Little Italy, Toronto. We understand that your mental health is shaped by the sum of your experiences—what has happened to you, not what's "wrong" with you. In a non-judgmental, curious, and compassionate space, our psychotherapists help you understand why you feel the way you feel and deepen your capacity for self-care and self-compassion.

Healing happens in the context of relationships. In therapy, you build a stronger relationship with yourself and with your therapist, so our process is deeply collaborative and grounded in mutual respect, empathy, and non-judgmental listening. We hold a safe space where you can embrace every part of who you are and grow in reflection, insight, and awareness of yourself and others.

Client-Centred
We're a client-centred practice, offering a compassionate, safe space where you can get curious about your symptoms and how they affect your daily life, always at a pace that feels right for you.

Non-Pathologizing
We take a non-pathologizing approach. Rather than labelling what's "wrong," we encourage deep self-compassion and self-care as you work through difficult feelings and symptoms.

Trauma-Informed
Our care is trauma-informed. We recognize how individual and collective trauma — including racism, sexism, homophobia, and colonialism — affects our physical and mental health on many levels.
